- · A set which does not contain any element is called an empty set or a null set,or a void set.

- · A ∩ B is the set containing only those elements that are common in A & B.
- · A ∪ B = contains the elements that are either in A or in B or in both.
- · A ∩ B = ∅, then A & B are disjoint sets and n(A ∩ B) = 0
- · n(A ∪ B) = n(A) + n(B) –n (A ∩ B)
- · A & B are disjoint then n(A ∪ B) = n(A) + n(B) or n(A∩B)=0
